Overflowing Cup

Last weekend I attended a company conference, and wow, I am so thankful for the people who are in my life now because of the leap of faith I took two years ago. Thank you, thank you, thank you—you know who you are! These are the kind of people who fill my cup with happiness, a very welcomed thing since our world is filled with so much negativity.

Did you know that happiness is actually contagious? We hear people say that pretty frequently, but it’s actually true. I’m no expert on the details behind it, but there are some neat things that go on inside of your brain allowing it soak in happiness from the environment.

Imagine yourself as a cup. This cup gets filled from several sources. Ideally you have found the right mix of sources that make your full cup one filled with love, happiness, and positivity. This cup is your energy! The goal is to always have a full cup; an overflowing cup is even better. When your cup is overflowing, help other people fill their cups!

The key is to not be trying to fill the cups of others when yours is not full. When your cup is constantly being drained by family, work, friends, etc., you feel empty. You need to allow your cup to fill first!

With that being said, use the extras from your cup to fill others. Imagine what it would feel like if we all went around putting drops into each others’ cups instead of taking drops out.

It’s incredible what a stadium with more than 20,000 HAPPY people feels like. There were so many overflowing cups walking around St. Louis last weekend, and now we are out in full force around the world filling the cups of others 🙂

Love this!! I’m a firm believer in the “happiness is a choice” concept and I love the way Shay Carl (a youtube genius and first family on youtube) puts it! He constantly talks about how life can definitely suck but you can choose to let it bug you and destroy you, or you can choose to find something happy and be happy. It’s not always easy but it’s possible! I love that! Life is hard, but choosing to be happy and SPREADING that overflow of happy makes the world go round! Great post!

    • Yes! I’ll have to check out Shay Carl–thanks for the recommendation! I agree that it can be hard; I’ve heard that humans are wired to see the negatives first, which is probably why it can be so difficult to choose happy at times. I think you’d like the Live Happy movement! If you google “Live Happy,” check out the first site that comes up 🙂
