Back-to-School Essentials & Tips

It’s that time of year again where college students are heading back to school! This is my first summer whose end won’t be marked by back to school shopping and starting a new school year. Even though I won’t be returning to school in a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to do a little round up of my favorite things for college students!

This isn’t your typical back-to-school shopping list. This list includes a few things that are often left out on the lists you can find on Pinterest. If you’re looking for a full list, you can find that here! I made this one for my cousin but would love it to get more use.

Planner – if you’re looking for a great planner, check out the ones Limelife Planners has to offer! I really loved using a spiral bound Layout C for college life.

Electric water heater (couldn’t find the same one I have, but this is very similar) – this comes in handy if you’re not allowed to have a microwave! I used it frequently to make hot drinks and oatmeal.

Command strips (the Velcro kind) are very useful for hanging decor.

Command hooks are nice for hanging your towel, bath robe, jacket, and umbrella.

Pictures add a nice touch to the bland walls of a dorm! It’s super easy to bring your phone into Target or Walmart and print pictures right off of your phone.

Garbage and recycling bins (if you’re in a dorm, check with the school first to see if they’re provided) are a must for dorm living. Who wants to walk into the hallway to the trash chute every time they want to throw something away?

A small rug for inside your door is nice because it gives you a place to kick your shoes off without tracking dirt all over your room

Coloring book & crayons, colored pencils, and/or markers – sometimes you need something to take your mind off of school, and for me, coloring was a perfect way to do that! Some of my favorite coloring books are by Paige Tate & Co.

What is something you wish you had when you lived in the dorms?
